CCP Staff Pray
A prayer day on Follow Up, a program that helps new believers be sure of their salvation and established in their faith, was held on June 7th, 2010 at CCP’s Community Center, Kawangware. The day marked the end of the first Follow Up class at the same time the beginning of the second class. Eighteen new believers went through the first class while the second class comprises of 36 new believers. Follow Up involves six areas of focus; Affirmation, Salvation, Assurance, God’s Word, Prayer and Church. In his devotion, Pastor Boniface Sinkale preached on ‘Discipleship,’ a message from the Bible in the book of Mathew 28: 16-20. He described a disciple as “a person who accepts and assists in spreading of the good news.” He said that the great commission God gave believers was to make disciples. As a result, a true disciple abides in God’s word, loves others and bears fruits. The cost of discipleship was to allow Jesus come first in life, be willing to forsake all things and suffer for Christ’s sake. Pst. Sinkale encouraged the staff to embrace the Follow Up program as one way of fulfilling the great commission of making disciples. He added that God’s love, joy, peace and protection were the rewards. Thereafter, the staff shared the Holy Communion followed by personal time with God. The staff evaluated the Follow Up program giving their experiences and challenges encountered in the field. Some of the challenges included illiteracy, health problems, ignorance, language barrier, inconsistency, false doctrines, and different religious backgrounds. In addition, Pre-School and second grade children lacked understanding of salvation due to their age. Despite of the challenges, the program was very effective to pre teens and adults. In the afternoon, the staff grouped into four and each group assigned specific prayer items based on the challenges. They also prayed for the start of the new Follow Up class. The day ended with prayers for individual needs. After the Follow UP process, the new believers get into a Discipleship program to help them get rooted and grow in their spiritual lives based on the biblical truth.
