Entrepreneurship Class Begins
Entrepreneurship class with 17 students registering commenced on May 12th, 2010 at CCP's Community Centre, Kawangware. The three month training facilitated by Martin Kioko, the Advanced Tuition Teacher, aims at empowering students with business skills, knowledge and attitude necessary to become entrepreneurs. At the end of the course, the students would identify business opportunities to venture into, identify different forms of business organizations, select various sources of finance, start and run own business entities, control marketing variables and research for business improvement, serve customers effectively focusing on their needs and expectations, legally carry out business activities confidently, and finally guide other businessmen for better performance. The course outline developed by the Emerging Young Leaders Africa (EYL) curriculum, include definition of an entrepreneur, how to become an entrepreneur, development of business ideas, business start up process, types of businesses & commercial forms of businesses, sources of business finance, saving, marketing, market research and analysis, costing, customer care, human resource management, communication skills and development of a business plan. Sellah Nafula, the Director of Operations, encouraged students to start the course with positive attitude knowing “there is a history to success and that is business idea.” Entrepreneurship is a three month course that empowers students economically, providing skills and techniques of starting and managing own businesses. The yearly course is held once a week from May to August. Upon completion, students are examined and those who excel awarded a certificate of merit during a graduation ceremony.
