Free Medical Outreach Camp
Four hundred and five people were examined at a Community Medical Outreach Camp held on May 8th, 2010 at the CCP’s Community Center, Kawangware. Besides, 44 people knew their HIV/AIDS status courtesy of the Voluntary Counseling Testing (VCT) unit. The camp targeted sponsored families and their friends. Nineteen tooth extractions took place at the Dentist section while over 40 people visited an Optician with minimum of 20 referred to buy spectacles. Other free services offered included observation, consultation, pharmaceutical services, treatment and prayers. The Medical team comprised of nine Clinicians, two Nurses, 3 Pharmacists, two VCT Counselors, a Dentist and an Optician. The team was assisted by the CCP staff. We thank God for five people who gave their lives to Christ at the camp. The camp was organized in partnership with Riruta Health Center, Lea Toto, Kivuli Center, Ngong Road Health Center and Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT). This was the second Medical Camp to be held this year. The Medical Camps are held thrice a year in January, April and August. The camps are held to ensure that sponsored families, their friends and the community are medically fit.
