Team Building
The CCP staff outing on ‘Team Building’ took place on April 30th, 2010 at Rock City Garden, Kiambu. The event facilitated by William Wamhiu, a Life Coach, accompanied by his wife Sarah, aimed at team work, unity, trust, communication, and focus. The staff were divided into three groups named ‘Ugali Sourcer, Nyahang’i and Hotspurs.’ The teams aggressively competed with each other in activities such as ‘Backward Fall and Catch’ that brought out trust, ‘Blind Football’ that signified trust and team work, ‘Blind Polygon’ where some blindfolded members of each team creatively worked together to make different shapes. ‘Modified Simon Says,’ an activity that tested the listening and responding capacity of each person followed. In addition, ‘Tooth Pick’ game showed the importance of appreciating simple things in life. There was ‘Charades’ game which involved non verbal communication. Creativity, focus and inter-dependence were key factors in the ‘Human Knot’ game signifying the relevance of each person in an organization. In the afternoon, ‘Rabbit, Wall and Arrow’ game was nothing less than a teamwork activity that enabled each team deliver a certain goal. Team work and focus was again exhibited in ‘Toxic Waste’ game. Five participants from each team carried water in a bucket using strings tied on the bucket. Thereafter, the ‘Shoe Race’ game followed. A participant from each team went and picked as many shoes as she/he could at a time from all the teams’ shoes in one central point until all the shoes were over. On the same day, the staff celebrated David Okoth and Grace Ndegwa’s birthdays. In the name of ‘Blind Fold’ game, the two were taken unaware until the staff, with lots of merriment, showered them with water.
