Micro Finance Training Commences
The first Micro Finance Grant Training involving six guardians was held on April 27th, 2010 at CCP’s Office, Kawangware. The training facilitated by Michael Mutua, the IT/Finance Manager, Jacqueline Ngige, the Sponsorship Site Manager and Sellah Nafula, the Director of Operations equipped guardians with skills on ‘How to Start and Manage a Business.’ Before venturing into business, one must identify potential business opportunities and asses them, prepare a business plan, mobilize necessary resources and complete legal requirements where needed. In addition, monitor the price of a product to realize an acceptable profit margin. A successful businessperson is passionate, self confident, patient and visionary. He/she must embrace hard work, good customer care, business record keeping and learn from mistakes. Mr. Mutua, one of the facilitators, stressed on the importance of a business plan as a tool that shows what one was to achieve, why and how. Guardians were shown how to come up with a business plan. Jim Behr, CCP’s CEO and Chairman of the Board, said that the training aimed at helping guardians develop and succeed in their businesses. “Our aim is to make each one successful as possible,” said Jim. He appreciated and congratulated the six for being the pioneers of the training which would be carried once in a month. Micro Finance Training is a program that helps guardians in the Sponsorship program start and maintain businesses through grants and loans. The guardians must be 18 years and above. After going through the first training, a guardian qualifies to get a grant depending on the business plan. Only those in business and are willing to expand their businesses are eligible for the grant.
