Self Development
Ngando guardians were on April 10th, 2010 empowered economically to support themselves in a training on ‘Self Development’ at Free Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Abigael Ojwang’, the Human Resource Manager and Counselor from Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC), said that self development begun with a vision and utilizing the God given abilities to achieve the vision. Mrs. Ojwang’ noted some basics for self development such as having a purpose, hope, planning well, commitment, hard work, knowing strengths and weaknesses, being positive, observing personal & environmental cleanliness and finally involving God in all the plans. “The secret of self development is your mind and what you speak concerning the future,” said Mrs. Ojwang’. A self developed person should be positive minded regardless of the scarcity of resources. Everyone was created with different abilities to complement each other. As a result, one should relate well with others and learn from each others’ experiences for personal development. Later on, guardians were divided into three groups and came up with the following resolutions incase CCP ceased supporting them: start small income generating activities like businesses, initiate support groups, monthly merry go rounds financial contributions(where one person a month receives the lumpsum) and look for employment. Other self development plans were self reliance, hard work, personal planning, maximizing of personal abilities, and motivation. Mrs. Sellah Nafula, CCP’s Director Of Operations reminded guardians that CCP existed to empower them live a quality life. She therefore called upon guardians to positively reflect on their future. “Self development begins by transformation of your mind,” remarked Sellah. Thereafter, Monthly Food Distribution took place. The guardians also received school text books for their children courtesy of their sponsors.
