Pre Teens Program Launch
Over 60 preteens attended the new Pre Teens Program launched on January 16th 2010 at CCP’s Community Center, Kawangware. The program began with relay and balloon games. Thereafter, the preteens gathered for a lesson about ‘Self Awareness.’ Margaret Mbugua, the Medical Site Manager, described self awareness as knowing what to do at the right time. Self awareness was all about respect, obedience, self responsibility, accepting criticism for one’s development and growth, control of personal emotions, knowing your identity and strengths as well as weaknesses. Margaret reassured the preteens that everyone was fearfully and wonderfully made in the image and likeness of God who gives the right of making choices. She therefore encouraged the group to make right decisions about their lives. “To be self aware is to make right decisions at the right time,” Margaret concluded. The Pre Teens program targets children aged between 9-13 years. It is aimed at preparing and helping the group deal with the physical, spiritual, mental, social and psychological transitional challenges in their lives. The group meets every Saturday from 3pm to 5pm at the CCP’s Community Center.
